The NBA’s entity that conducts all of the league’s businesses in greater China was formed in January 2008 after its first office opened in Hong Kong in 1992. The NBA has interacted with Chinese basketball for decades, including first hosting the Chinese National team in 1985. The NBA currently has relationships with a strong network of television and digital media outlets in China, including a partnership of more than 20 years with national broadcaster CCTV. The league hosts hundreds of touring basketball events for fans, conducts community enrichment programs and maintains marketing partnerships with a combination of world-class Chinese based corporations and U.S.-based multinationals.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager of Digital Product and Operation will be under the umbrella of NBA X, a fully owned subsidiary of NBA China with objective to reinvent content development and distribution, develop Direct to Consumer and NBA Membership Business as well as drive innovations and fan growth in China. The position will be responsible for designing, developing and operating NBA fans operation platforms on NBA Alipay mini program with the strategic partnership with Ant Financial. The candidate will also be responsible for communicating with internal and external stakeholders to create relevant products and services to distribute on NBA fans operation platforms.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

-Understand NBA fans needs from various channels and be able to formulate product improvement strategies and new product features from user research result and personal observations.

-Develop the product roadmap with our partners such as Alipay, NBA internal stakeholders and NBA delivery vendors, get alignment on prioritization and timelines to meet business goals.

-Authoring functional specs and business requirements related to NBA fans operation platform and features to allow vendors to deliver the designed fans operation platform.

-Manage various vendors to design and develop the fans operation platforms and deliver impact for our business and fans.

-Formulate NBA fans operations strategies, optimize user journey in NBA fans operation platforms, lead the vendors and internal stakeholders to design user operation campaigns and effectively improve user experience.

-Act as an "entry-point" for inquiries from various stakeholders; as well as a point of contact to relevant teams across NBA and partners such as Alipay.

-Own and manage strategic projects by coordinating discussions, driving deadlines and assigning tasks across cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

-Communicate concisely within the team and with leadership to influence outcomes.

-Develop a deep understanding of NBA fans operation platform data infrastructure, reporting and analytics needs to build products that allow you to quickly identify insights and integrate it into our customers’ workflows.

-Coordinate with data team to develop and execute data insights and user behavioral studies based on NBA CDP co-developed with Ant Financial.

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

-High degree of self-advocacy and motivation while strong leadership skills to manage multi-function teams.

-Strong capability to quickly learn and understand new areas of business as well as industry best practices.

-High level of professionalism and business acumen of Chinese consumer market.

-Understanding of NBA and basketball in China with knowledge of fan psychology.

-Ability to understand complex ideas and problems in a fast-paced environment with strong ability to identify, communicate, and advocate for solutions at both high and granular levels.

-Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with and understand technical subjects and emerging technologies and their relevance to the marketplace.

-Result-driven. Not reactionary, articulates the desired outcome and works collaboratively to create a path to achieve it.

-Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, identify trade-offs, and make decisions in high-pressure situations.

-Deep knowledge in how product and operations develop in new media, technology, entertainment, or related fields.

-Confident individual, able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage short term deliverables along with long-term projects.

EXPERIENCE NEEDED

-More than 4 years of Internet industry experience on user operations, product strategy and project management.

-Strong leadership ability with the talent to create a vision and build a team of people working together to achieve the vision.

-Ability to define business and functional requirements as well as design and execute solutions.

-Proven track record in team management and demonstrated history of delivering successful results from large scale of cross-departments projects.

-An ability to manage personal workload and agenda independently but in alignment with the priorities of the business unit.

-Ability to work under pressure in a highly volatile environment in China.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND REQUIRED

-Minimum BA/BS degree
